A quick word from us:

Hey, we’re Tarni & Phil.

Before this, we were running our carpentry business. From the outside, it looked like everything was working. Good money, consistent jobs, always busy.

But our whole life depended on that.

The plan was the same as everyone else. Keep working, maybe take a holiday once or twice a year, and hope that one day down the track we’d finally have the time to enjoy it.

Phil was working most days, long hours, always on the phone, always needed somewhere. And while that kept things going, it meant he was missing a lot at home.

The kids were growing up around his work schedule, and we were building a life, but rarely getting to be in it together.
He saw more of our daughter through FaceTime than he did in real life.

We weren’t struggling. But behind the scenes, we were falling apart.

At some point, we actually stopped and looked at where that path was heading… and the people further down it weren’t living a life that made us want to stay on it.

So we made the decision to do something different.
Something no one around us was really doing.

And yeah… people had opinions.

“Why would you change what’s already working?”

“Just stick with what you know.” The usual.

But we backed ourselves anyway.

We didn’t start this because we wanted to make money online. We started because something had to change. We wanted our time back, to actually be there, to build a life that didn’t revolve around work.

So we focused on building something that fit around our life instead. Not something that pulled us away from the kids, but something that worked with it.

We had no experience with this, no background, no idea what we were doing at the start, but we figured it out and built it properly.

Now things look very different. Phil’s not tied to the same schedule, we’re not relying on one stream, and we actually get to do life together while still working.

Over the last 2 years, we’ve travelled more than we ever have in our lives, our kids have two present parents, and we work if and when we choose.

We’re living a completely different life to what we thought was possible back then.

Moral of it… stop taking advice from people who’ve never built what you want, and start learning from people who actually have. That’s what changed everything for us.
